What's New and Standard for 2023?

Standard on all new Subaru Ascent trims is a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder boxer engine paired with a continuously variable transmission and standard symmetrical all-wheel drive. Thanks to its engine's 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque, the Subaru Ascent tows up to 5,000 pounds and has an EPA-estimated gas mileage of 21/27 mpg city/highway.

Hill descent control and active torque vectoring are now standard on all models, in addition to an impressive ground clearance of 8.7 inches. Year 2023 models have a more pronounced grille, prominent bumper, and redesigned standard steering-responsive LED headlights to match redesigned Konoji C-shaped taillights. Lower-edge air ducts define the new front bumper, enhancing aerodynamic airflow.

2023 Subaru Ascent Base

The base trim combines 18-inch alloy wheels with steering-responsive LED headlights, power side mirrors, and black roof rails. There is also a rear washer and rear camera washer. The cabin boasts cloth-covered 60/40 split-folding and reclining second- and third-row seats, with a six-way manually adjustable seat for the driver.

Updated tech that's standard includes an 11.6-inch tablet-inspired touchscreen controlling climate, audio, and infotainment. Wireless smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is also standard on all models. There is a 12-volt outlet on the console and another in the cargo area, as well as front/rear center console USB ports and 12 cupholders.

2023 Subaru Ascent Premium

The Premium trim seats eight, but second-row captain's chairs are an option, reducing the seating to seven. As with all models, Subaru's EyeSight® driver-assist suite is standard, though its more advanced features are only standard on upper trims. Subaru Ascent Premium adds a blind-spot monitor, rear-cross traffic detection, and automatic emergency steering to the Base trim's pre-collision braking, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.

This trim also enjoys tinted privacy glass in the rear, climate controls just for the second row, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. The driver's seat is eight-way power adjustable. An in-vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot completes the amenities.

2023 Subaru Ascent Onyx Edition

Aptly named, the Onyx Edition presents black exterior trim: 20-inch black alloy wheels and a rear spoiler, mirror caps, and grille in Crystal Black Silica. Silver-stitched StarTex water-repellent upholstery covers the seven-passenger cabin seating, complementing Onyx logo floor mats.

The Onyx Edition steps up the convenience game with a power liftgate, keyless access, and push-button start. Logo fog lights and a panoramic sunroof define its overall appearance on the road. Standard on all models is X-Mode with hill descent control, but the Onyx Edition also includes another setting for Deep Snow/Mud. Its additional EyeSight® feature is reverse automatic emergency braking.

2023 Subaru Ascent Limited

Leather upholstery hits the Subaru Ascent Limited's interior, with a 12-way power adjustable driver's seat. Enhancing the seat is lumbar support, a seat cushion extension, and two-position driver seat memory. There is a four-way power passenger seat, and there are retractable sunshades for the heated-seat second row.

The cockpit acquires a heated steering wheel, an LCD instrument cluster in vibrant color, and multifunction displays. Third-row seating has its own USB port, while the second row offers the option of captain's chairs or a bench without additional cost. The Ascent Limited's driver-assist tech ups the ante with Subaru's DriverFocus, a feature using facial recognition and eye movement monitoring to detect and warn of distracted driving.

2023 Subaru Ascent Touring

With the Touring trim, you have your pick of Java Brown or Slate Black leather upholstery. There are also the added perks of ventilated front seats and windshield wipers that sense rain. Power small appliances via Touring's 120-volt outlet while enjoying atmospheric ambient cabin lighting.

Touring's standard tech entails a Smart Rearview Mirror camera as well as a 180-degree front camera optimized for off-roading. Everything available on lower trims is standard on Touring. Schedule a test drive as soon as these models hit our showroom in Madison.
