This future of autonomous driving is here -- and by here we mean in California.

Subaru recently received a permit from the California Department of Motor Vehicles to test self-driving cars in the state. As for what that driverless technology entails, we're not exactly sure, but we're guessing we'll find out soon. Subaru aims to offer a vehicle with fully autonomous driving capability by as soon as 2020. That including changing lanes and steering without any assistance from the driver.

Subaru already offers some semi-autonomous features in its current lineup, including driver assistance technologies bundled into the Subaru EyeSight® system. This includes camera-based adaptive cruise control and forward collision mitigation, and it's been available on its cars since the 2013 model year.

We encourage you to drop by the Don Miller Subaru West showroom to experience Subaru EyeSight® firsthand by taking any of our equipped new Subaru models for a spin. Stay tuned to out blog for updates on Subaru's self-driving innovations, and check out the video below for an overview of the EyeSight® system.
