If you're in the market for a vehicle like the 2017 Subaru Outback ... well, you're pretty much just looking at the Outback. This crossover wagon is unique due to its elongated body shape, off-road capability, and competitive price.

Cushy crossovers can't compete because the Outback comes standard with all-wheel drive, 8.7 inches of ground clearance, a horizontally-opposed four-cylinder engine, and those superior Subaru crash test scores. It outdoes conventional SUVs as well with its low roof height for easy loading, a wide ad surefooted stance, an efficient powertrain, and generous standard infotainment and safety features. While there's certainly a market for crossover SUV alternative, you'll be hard-pressed to find any direct competitors to the capable and comfortable Outback.
