Last week we were very happy to learn that after the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety completed its testing on the new 2015 Subaru Legacy and 2015 Outback models, it determined that both cars were worthy of the TOP SAFETY PICK+ designation.
For those unfamiliar with the safety rating system, TOP SAFETYP PICK+ is a relatively new level of safety certification reserved for a limited number of cars that outperform the competition in a series of crash tests. Both the Outback and the Legacy already had this title for the 2014 model year, and since then the safety features have only improved.

It may look scary, but in the event of a collision, that is exactly what you would want to see from your car. The driver was protected by the airbags and the vehicle's structural integrity certainly held up at 40 mph.
