What is EyeSight®?

EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology is found on most of the new lineup, coming standard on many vehicles, but what does it do? EyeSight® acts as a Subaru's nervous system in many ways. It monitors traffic movement and alerts you to threats and imminent collisions, allowing you the time to take action and even automatically acting to reduce or avoid a collision. With EyeSight® equipped, all 2018 Subaru models earned the highest possible rating for front crash prevention by IIHS.

EyeSight® comes with four main safety and driver assistance features. These four features include:

  • Lane Keep Assist and Sway Warning:
  • EyeSight® is able to monitor your position on the road and will alert you when you start to drive outside your lane.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control:
  • Choose a safe distance from the vehicle ahead of you, and EyeSight® will automatically adjust your speed to maintain your selected distance.
  • Pre-Collision Throttle Management:
  • When EyeSight® detects a vehicle in front of you that you are likely to hit, it reduces the power to the engine to minimize the damage and force from a frontal impact.
  • Pre-Collision Braking:
  • You will be alerted when EyeSight® detects an imminent threat of a frontal collision and will even apply full braking force in emergencies. This feature has been found to reduce the rate of pedestrian-related injuries by up to 35%.
