Subaru Fans Prep for Release of All-Wheel Drive Plug-In Model

According to recent reports, Subaru plans to release a plug-in hybrid vehicle within the year. While speculation leans toward the new plug-in model being either a Subaru Crosstrek or a Subaru Forester, there’s not yet official word on what model the vehicle will be.

Assuming Subaru stakeholders construct the car around the Prius Prime, the new Subaru plug-in is expected to have an 8.8-kWh lithium-ion battery that can be recharged at a household outlet in under six hours.

An all-electric Subaru lineup is expected to debut as early as 2021. In the meantime, the brand continues to make strides in improving the efficiency of it’s gas-powered symmetrical all-wheel drive offerings, including the forthcoming large-scale SUV, the Subaru Ascent.
