2018 Subaru WRX and Crosstrek Win IIHS Top Safety Pick + Award for 2017

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) is a renowned reviewer of vehicle safety. Basically, what they say goes—which means that the 2018 Subaru WRX Sedan and Crosstrek SUV models are as safe as they come.

Accolades That Make a Difference

The IIHS awards aren't giving out trophies for the sake of it. When a car is deemed safe, that directly effects driver purchasing behavior and ultimately their wellbeing behind the wheel.

When accompanied with EyeSight Driver Assist Technology and LED Steering Responsive Headlights, both the newest WRX and Crosstrek received the Top Safety Pick + Award. Both vehicles also received the highest rating in crashworthiness evaluations, as well as a "superior" rating in front crash prevention. Ultimately, all Subaru models with EyeSight and LED Steering Responsive Headlights join the WRX and Crosstrek in receiving the highest possible 2017 safety ratings.

Neither of the models are new on the institute's radar. The Crosstrek has been a Top Safety Pick for six years now, while the WRX is entering its third year with the title. However, with technology continuously advancing and safety an exponentially increasing concern, these accolades are more impressive by the year.
